dc.description.abstract The study is set to determine the extent to which home to school movements affect the academic performance of students in selected secondary schools in Kassanda Town Council, Kassanda district. The study was guided by three specific objectives, which were carried out through descriptive cross-sectional study design. Data were collected using semi-structured interview guide, questionnaires and documentary review, by involving 04 Headteachers, 08 teachers, 02 District educational administrators, 20 parents and 225 (89 boys and 136 girls) students. The study respondents were sampled through simple random and purposive sampling technique determined by Krejci and Morgan table, (1970) in which SPSS and inductive analysis procedures were employed to analyze their responses. The study determined that longer home to school movements travelled by students made them reach schools late, with empty stomachs and at very many cases missed morning lessons. Location of school has led to massive failure to most of students, due to long walks among students have caused dropouts from school and most of girl students get pregnant thus fails to attain their educational goals. Secondary schools will continue performing poorly academically if there is no effort done to improve the provision of education in rural areas especially in Kassanda Town Council. en_US
