Abstract: | The study aimed at establishing the effect of financial environment on staff motivation in private secondary schools in Nansana municipality, Wakiso district. The study was guided by three objectives namely; to establish how teachers are rewarded, the effect of respective communication and the effect of head teachers’ supportive leadership behaviors on teachers’ motivation. A cross sectional survey research design was utilized. The study involved 108 respondents namely 9 Directors, 9 head teachers, 90 teachers randomly selected from 9 Schools. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire, interview guide and documentary analysis. Data collected was compiled, sorted, and organized in frequencies and percentages. The study findings revealed that some private secondary Schools in Wakiso district do not beautifully reward their teachers. It was also established that some head teachers use supportive leadership styles and respectful communication in some private secondary schools. Staff motivation was established relatively low in most private schools. It was then concluded that teachers’ motivation was subject to the existing reward system. It was concluded that respective communication and supportive head teacher’s leadership behaviors have a great contribution on teachers’ motivation. The general conclusion was that organizational financial environment strongly influences staff motivation in private secondary schools in Nansana municipality, Wakiso District. It was then recommended that all private secondary schools should put in place better rewarding systems. It was therefore equally recommended that private secondary schools should emphasize respectful communication and supportive leadership as a strategy of getting increased teachers’ motivation. A favorable organization financial environment was strongly recommended for private secondary schools for improved teachers’ motivation. |
